Colonial Furniture/Accent Pieces

Our Colonial collection of furnishings includes a mix of originals and reproductions from the mid-seventeenth century to present.

An English oak hand-crafted cradle dated 1659 in the East Chamber is one of our oldest pieces of furniture. The drawer is a very unusual feature, as is the date engraved on the top. Very few cradles like this exist today.

The Wallace Nutting dining collection set of six bannister-backed side chairs dated 1915-1940 graces a room known as the hall. Nutting, known for his New England landscape photography, began using furniture as props in his photos, which later led  him to start his own business of manufacturing and selling his own furniture. Both his furniture and photographs are widely collected today.
